Since the beginner of the year we have had a great catching ratios.

So far, this summer has been one of the best we have seen. Feel free to visit or summer fishing pictures http://www.pbase.com/reel_diamond/root to see some of this hot action. We have had a lot of happy friends this year on the boat. The fish have taken their normal summer time patterns as we switch down to smaller baits as we get deeper into the year. Seems like this year the rock fish have been favoring the .25 oz buck tail while trolling on or near the bottom. Sometimes while trolling all 6 rods are catching fish at the same time. Another good thing we have seen this year is a lot less sick fish and less dead zones in the water.

Another trophy rock fishing season is just around the corner. In about 2 months we will be moving the Reel Diamond down to Solomon's Island, MD. Last winter we fishing out of Cape Charles, Va for the big fish. But, this year we will be staying a little closer to home due to the economy. The charters will be cheaper and less travel time for everyone. See you this winter!

Only 9 Days Before Opening Day

Well, we only have 9 more days left before the big 2010 opening day for trophy rock fishing! We did end up purchasing the new 1997 42' Jones. What a great ride with plenty of extra room for the family. Listening and reading all the catch and release reports the fishing seems to be on the right track. Even though the surface water temps are a little higher than usual the fish should be around for awhile. Next week it will be chilling off a little bit and good winds will cool down these temps.

This season the c&r guys have had a few regulation changes. The season ran from March 22nd to April 16th. While only being allowed to fish 6 rods/vessel has made catching a little more challenging.

Our fishing reports and post will be starting April 17th as long as we have enough time at the end of our long days. We wish everyone the best of luck this year and safe boating!

Capt. Luckily for the captains in the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake bay there have not been any new restrictions for the 2010 season except for a federal fishing license. Unfortunately though, there are some in the works like: the length of planner board lines and our catch and release season issues. Anyway, hopefully the 2010 season will be as good as our 2009 season. Over all catching fish was the easy part last year and getting people on the boat was a little harder. The Baltimore fishing charter business has been happily consistent for the past five years though. At Diamond Fishing Charters we are working on getting a new boat for the new season and if all goes well we will be fishing it in the spring. Our blogs will be posted daily or weekly with fishing reports after April 17th.
